Christine Climent
Christine was born in Blois, France, and spent her entire childhood until the age of 18 surrounded by rivers, forests and castles, including Chambord which is the most prestigious in the region. Her unique upbringing is no coincidence given her mother came from there, with many members of the family working as forest rangers, guides or beaters during presidential hunts while others lived within the castle walls. Naturally, it was through the castles and their awe-inspiring contents that she began to develop an appreciation of art. This led her to frequent visits to fine art workshops in Blois, where she immediately felt at home.
Drawing on her academic background in Art History and through her rich encounters and experiences working with artists from different backgrounds such as sculptors, painters, actors, stylists, musicians, choreographers, Christine gradually trained herself in various techniques (painting, engraving, welding, stone sculpture, modeling) and styles (abstraction, street art, land art, etc.). To this day, she remains an avid learner who sees learning as a lifelong process.
Among all the artists she have met, she has been particularly touched by artists Zlatko Glamatchak, Jerome Mesnager, Maï Tabakian, Colorz, Dong Q Lê, Sylvie Kaptur Gintz, Princess Esther Kamatari, and choreographer Balkis Moustashar; all of whom have inspired her with their artistic commitment.
Christine believes that the pleasure of artistic creation is lasting and constantly evolves in the way it is expressed. She expresses in ways shaped by the changing environment, cultures and traditions, the history of others and our own, as well as the sciences with all their new discoveries and reassessments of what already exists.
You could say that her work is a succession of flashes, of snapshots, a correlation between the memory of things and current events, where the medium, techniques and means vary as much as the instability of our world.
