Kacey Ko

Kacey Ko is a Hong Kong based artist, dedicated to exploring the relationship between human psychology and the arts. Building on her background in psychology, she began her practise by examining ways where art as a medium helps us reconnect with our innermost selves. Influenced by her unique experiences with Chinese philosophies of change (Yijing) and her fascination towards the western medium of oil paint, Ko reinterprets the conception of east-meets-west through her work. Ko’s latest solo exhibition at JCCAC titled Oasis, was featured on media outlets including Art and Piece, HK Artion & Life Style Journal by HKEJ. Her works were also shortlisted for Salon Des Beaux Arts 2021 and selected to represent China as a finalist at Salon Des Beaux Arts 2022 in France. In Spring of 2023, Ko's works were featured at major art shows in Paris and New York, including Art Capital 2023 at Grand Palais Éphémère, Artexpo New York 2023 at Manhattan and Art Shopping 2023 at Carrousel du Louvre.

Ko enjoys depicting the skies with a sense of dreaminess and tranquillity, whilst inviting the audience to discover calmness through the vastness of the earth and find relief through the richness of colours. Through the creative interplay of unique colours, textures and shapes in her works, Ko recreates the free spirited essence of nature and encourages viewers to experience moments of introspection and to reconnect with our mind’s inner state of dynamism, wholeness and compassion.
