Esther Chow

Esther Chow is a native of Hong Kong. She received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a focus on painting and drawing. She also creates in other media including print making, digital and traditional photography, murals and mosaics. Esther works primarily from observation and she draws inspiration from the forms and colours of the natural world. From larger-than-life, realistic food portraits, gestural floral abstractions to plein air sketches from Mongolian steppes to gardens in Prague, Esther’s work explores her interests in perception, colour, childhood and familial relationships, traditional motifs and cross-cultural experiences.

Esther has exhibited in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Chicago, Prague and Mongolia, and her work is in private and corporate collections on both sides of the Pacific. Her work was most recently exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Hong Kong (Aug 2022). Esther was a winner of the Nippon Steel U.S.A., Inc./ School of the Art Institute of Chicago Presidential Awards Competition (2011) and a recipient of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation Community Arts Fund (2020). Some of her largest outdoor and public projects could be found in Yuen Long in Hong Kong, Pudong in Shanghai, and Roseville in California.
